JavaScript is a client-side scripting language commonly executed as a part of a web browser. This helps users to create dynamic websites. In Windows XP operating system, almost all web browsers come with  JavaScript enabled by default. Sometimes due to some imperfection in the configuration settings and all, you may find the JavaScript disabled. Don’t get panic, because by following some troubleshooting techniques you can enable it manually. By doing so, you will have the access to interactive contents when you visit the websites.
In Windows XP, it's possible enable the JavaScript in Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer web browser. This article details the information given by the Windows XP support team to do the same.

• Now click the content option on the top menu bar and the check the field near to Enable JavaScript. Now you have successfully enabled the JavaScript in Mozilla Firefox.
• When done, trigger the OK button to save the settings that you have made.
How to enable JavaScript in Internet Explorer?
• Firstly, launch Internet Explorer application on your system by clicking the internet explorer shortcut icon on your desktop screen.
• Navigate to the tools tab on the top main menu bar and from the drop-down menu thus formed, select the Internet options tab.

Employee Engagement — Power your Bottom Line

Posted on 07:43 by Unknown
The impact of a disengaged workforce can be staggering when it comes to productivity and profitability. In fact, new research shows that as many as 67% of your employees may be less than fully engaged — and the average company loses $2,246 per disengaged employee every year. Engaged employees are not only 57% more effective; they’re also 87% less likely to leave your company.

Interact Intranet: Custom Location Directory

Posted on 16:09 by Unknown
One of the most widely used applications on our intranet has been a custom developed location finder to help our employees find addresses of our 250 locations.  We recently migrated to Interact Intranet and developed a new custom location finder which queries against location and personnel information from within the database.

The out of the box people directory can displays location information if you configure it, but it takes a few extra steps to get to the data. We plan to offer both the People Director and Location Directory to our users through homepage widgets and the Applications menu from our top navigation.

If you have a location finder on your intranet I'd love to know what features you've built into it, and any suggestions you might have so we can make ours even better thanks!

Screenshot 1: The dropdown contains a list of our chapters (aka States) and regional offices.  By selecting from the list the lower panel does an inline refresh to show the appropriate content.

Screenshot 2: Click on the "View Staff" link from the first screenshot displays a list of everyone that works in the office you selected.

A Note On Utilizing The Reboot Facility Effectively On Vista Laptop

Posted on 22:00 by Unknown

Very often we use words without knowing the real meaning. In computer there are many technical terms which may seem Greek and Latin to many. Few of these words are relatively close in structure but different in meaning. For example the words "reinstall", "reboot" and "reload" look similar, but they are entirely different in function. For example, a user who doesn’t have sufficient knowledge about technical terms used in a computer might feel that the terms “reboot” and “reload” are the same.  However, it isn’t so! Reboot refers to a function in a computer which involves restarting or “booting” up the operating system once again whereas reload refers to a function in Windows machine which will allow a user to reload a page, programs or a window. System reboots are often used to apply changes in settings and other major changes in the files of the system. Need help to know this better? Go through these instructions developed by the Microsoft Windows Vista help forum.
Instructions
• Exit from every program that is currently running on our Windows Vista installed machine, you can either close them one by one or you can opt for “End process” option in Windows Task manager.
• Bring on the startup menu by clicking on the “Start” tab that is placed on the taskbar down below your desktop.
• In the contextual menu that pops up which is better known as startup menu, you can see a tab with the name “Shutdown”, clicking on it will provide you various options.
• From the contextual menu, just pick out the “Restart” tab.
• Once you click on the “Restart” tab, it will take a few moments for the Windows Vista operating system to shut down the operating system and to reboot the programs including the system files as well as user files.
• When the Windows Vista machine is done with system restart, you will be able to access each and every program or files and folders installed on your computer, however it is well advised to hang around for a few seconds as it will take a bit of time for the Windows to load up certain essential start on programs such as antivirus and Windows firewall.
If you are finding it difficult to follow the above instructions, you can avail the services of the Windows Vista help center.

Synchronization of Active Directory accounts can be a bit tricky so hopefully this chart comes in handy for some customers.  This relates to version 5.1.5 and might not apply to future releases.

Domain Checkbox
"Deactivate Non-Group Members?"
If you do this to an AD account...This is what happens to your Interact account...
UncheckedDisableDeactivated
DeleteRemains active
Remove from sync groupRemains active
CheckedDisableRemains active
DeleteDeactivated
Remove from sync groupDeactivated

NOTE: Interact cannot be configured to automatically delete users. If you want to delete a user from Interact you must do it manually through Site Admin.
